History of the Royal Doulton HN Series
The Royal Doulton HN figurine series began in 1913 and became one of the company’s most recognizable collecting traditions. The HN designation takes its name from Harry Nixon, a Royal Doulton artist associated with the early figure range and its colour records.
The first numbered figure in the series was Darling HN1, designed by Charles Noke. Over the decades, the HN range expanded to include fashionable ladies, children, historical and literary characters, and scenes from everyday life, each identified by its individual HN number.
