Vintage heavy candlestick / candle holder made of brass, bronze, or a similar copper alloy.
A compact but surprisingly substantial piece, weighing approximately 470 g (16.6 oz). The candlestick features a deep circular drip tray / wax catcher, a turned central stem, and a cylindrical candle socket with a flared upper rim.
One of the nicest details is the finely tooled / knurled decoration running around the perimeter of the base rim. The piece has a strong architectural form and a beautifully aged dark surface with areas of brown, golden and green verdigris patina.
The construction appears substantial and well made, with considerable weight for its relatively small size. The naturally aged surface gives it a strong antique-style, rustic and primitive decorative character.
