Beautiful vintage Scandinavian Sámi-style three-knife set, believed to originate from northern Sweden/Lapland.
The set includes three graduated steel knives, all fitting into a single traditional leather and decorated antler/bone sheath.
The pale handles and sheath feature wonderful hand-engraved geometric decoration, while the front of the sheath depicts a series of traditional scenes including reindeer and human figures.
The largest knife has a substantial steel blade with visible patina, discoloration, scratches and signs of use consistent with age. The leather sheath also shows age and wear, particularly around the stitching and suspension strap. Please see all photographs carefully for condition.
No maker’s mark has been identified.
The set has not been polished or restored, preserving its original aged appearance and character.
