This listing is for a vintage WM Johnson Inc wing divider compass measuring eight inches in length. It is stamped WM Johnson Inc Newark NJ USA on one arm and the opposite arm is stamped Tempered with the number 2 6 lower down. This piece features an earlier style riveted joint secured with brass rings on both sides which is a detail not often found on later Johnson tools.
The compass is in great condition with smooth movement, tight joint, clean steel and sharp legs. It is fully functional for layout work in metalworking woodworking leatherwork or drafting. Collectors will appreciate the early construction and clear stamps and users will appreciate a tool that is ready to work right away.
