Working vintage Watling Scale Co. “Your Weight and Fortune” coin-operated floor scale, manufactured in Chicago, Illinois.
An impressive Art Deco machine featuring a cream-colored top and base, dark cabinet, and tall mirrored front framed in red with gold-colored trim. The foot platform bears raised “Watling Scale Co. Chicago” lettering.
Tested and working: the scale weighs and the fortune feature operates. Weighing accuracy has not been professionally calibrated.
Turn the knob to select a question, then insert a coin to reveal your answer. The top retains its fortune-question display, answer window, weight display, and separate men’s and women’s height-and-weight charts.
The front graphic bears a 1933 copyright marking and the “No Springs” slogan.
Condition
Displays well with age-related scratches, scuffs, finish wear, discoloration and oxidation. Chips and rust spots are visible around portions of the cream-colored finish. Mirror shows streaking and surface wear. Printed displays show staining, fading and age-related deterioration.
