Highly celebrated for their bold, abstract geometry, Grebo tribal art famously served as an early inspiration for 20th-century European Cubism.

This specific piece is beautifully rendered from a lightweight ceremonial wood, meticulously hollowed out by hand with visible traditional adze tool marks lining the interior walls. It features a heavy, dark-crusted outer patina, prominent stylized facial registers, and distinct slit-eyes. The head is adorned with an expansive, thick natural fiber coiffure secured through individually drilled perimeter holes and heavily accented with authentic cowrie shells.
