Antique Wood & Sons \"Yuan\" Polychrome Sugar Bowl & Creamer Set
**Pattern Registered:** 1916 (Circa 1916–1930s) | **Origin:** Staffordshire, England
Please note the flea bite on the edge of the creamer
## Item Overview
Up for sale or purchase is a rare, beautifully structured geometric (hexagonal/octagonal) Sugar Bowl with matching Lid and Creamer Pitcher set by the historic English pottery house, Wood & Sons.
Designed by legendary ceramic artist Frederick Rhead, the \"Yuan\" pattern is heavily inspired by a 13th-century Chinese Yuan Dynasty plate in the British Museum. This set is a stunning representation of early 20th-century English Chinoiserie style.
## Rare Polychrome Colorway & Shape
While the standard Yuan pattern is strictly blue and white transferware, this particular set features the highly sought-after **Polychrome Enamel** finish. The traditional deep flowing blue transfer outlines are accented by gorgeous hand-painted enamel details, including a vibrant orange/yellow crest on the crane, pink and mauve floral blossoms, and multi-colored border detailing.
The pieces feature a sharp, angular geometric Art Deco silhouette rather than the common round variants, making this a highly collectible display pairing.
## Dimensions (Approximate)
* **Covered Sugar Bowl:** [Insert Height] inches tall (including lid finial) x [Insert Width] inches handle-to-handle
* **Creamer Jug:** [Insert Height] inches tall x [Insert Width] inches spout-to-handle
## Condition Report
* **Creamer Jug:** Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Minimal age-appropriate crazing to the glaze.
* **Covered Sugar Bowl:** The body and lid are structurally sound with vibrant colors. There is one small, localized chip on the top inner rim of the bowl base where the lid flange rests (please see close-up photos). Idoes not compromise the stability of the piece.
* Both pieces retain bright enamel colors and clean interiors.
