This is a tall woven rattan or wicker lidded hamper/basket, likely from the late 20th century. It was probably intended as a laundry hamper, but could also be used for blanket, toy, or general storage.
The thick natural rattan, rounded rectangular shape, and fitted woven lid give it a coastal, bohemian, or organic-modern look.
