Vtg 1950s Japan Pair of Western Cowboy Horse Figurines For Sale

Offered is a charming vintage matched pair of Japanese ceramic Western horse figurines, believed to date to the 1950s.

These wonderfully detailed horses capture the look of vintage Western trail and cowboy culture, with hand-painted saddles, bridles, reins and other tack.

The pair includes:

• Standing Western horse with detailed saddle,

bridle and original string reins

• Rearing Western horse featuring an especially

distinctive saddle and bedroll/pack secured

across its back

• Both mounted on original textured ceramic

display bases

• Warm chestnut, cream, blue and dark painted

accents

• Original hand-painted decoration

• Both marked MADE IN JAPAN with a circular

maker/trade mark on the underside

The rearing horse is particularly appealing with its dramatic pose and unusual bedroll/pack detail. Together, the two figures make a wonderful vintage Western display and would be a great addition to a collection of 1950s Japanese ceramics, Western Americana, cowboy collectibles or horse figurines.

Condition

Vintage condition consistent with age.

Both pieces show age-appropriate crazing to the glaze, along with scattered paint wear, small discolorations and minor imperfections to the ceramic bases. The original string reins/tack are present and show some age and wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photos are an important part of the condition description.

No repairs or restoration are known to me.

These are vintage pieces and are being sold in their original, aged condition.
