This set is vintage 1961 Montgomery Ward advertising ephemera mailed from Baltimore, Maryland to Greenbrier, Tennessee. The group consists of three primary pieces:
Mailing Envelope: Business envelope postmarked with Baltimore bulk rate postage, addressed to recipient in Greenbrier, TN, marked \"Pull Out For Postal Inspection\" on the back.
Customer Welcome Letter: Dated circa March 1961 (matching the postmark), typed on Montgomery Ward letterhead and signed by E. J. Garrity, Manager of Baltimore House. It promotes the 1961 Spring & Summer General Catalog.
Mailed Postcard Notice: Metered postcard postmarked March 29, 1961 (3-cent meter stamp PB 334008). It notifies the customer that catalog requests are being directed to the Chicago mail-order house to minimize shipping charges.
Condition Assessment: Overall, the pieces are in Very Good / Good vintage condition considering their age (over 60 years old):
Envelope: Shows moderate edge wear, rough tearing on the right edge where it was opened, and age toning/foxing spots along the back fold.
Welcome Letter: Clean overall with faint horizontal folding creases from mailing, mild age toning, and minor wear near the edges.
Postcard: Very clean front and back with bold black and red meter ink, minimal corner wear, and minor spot toning.
