Vintage GENUINE MALACHITE & BONE Hand Carved CURVED Letter Opener w/1950s Repair

Size 7.5\" in length. Malachite handle is 3\" long x 1 1/8\" wide at widest. Just shy of .5\" thick. Extremely heavy piece of malachite with beautiful natural patterning.

Features an unusual CURVED bovine bone blade

Very well made. Pieces like this were created in Mexico in the late 1940s and 1950s.

Very good condition, would list as excellent but this piece has been re-glued where the blade meets the handle, probably in the 1950s. There is old glue residue in that space- very minor. This piece was made with 3 internal metal pins inside the handle and blade which join them together from each side-they can be seen when held up to light. This means that the blade is extremely sturdy and secure to the handle- it does not wobble and is not in danger of coming off. The glue is the only detractor from this piece- otherwise, in great shape without any damage. Glue may be removable, see last 2 pics and use zoom.
