Title: Vintage Mid Century Chinoiserie Wooden Coaster Set Boxed Taiwan ROC 1980s Art
Description:
Beautiful and unique vintage set of 4 wooden coasters housed in their original matching hinged wooden storage box. Manufactured in Taiwan (Republic of China) during the late 1970s to 1980s export boom, this set is a wonderful example of retro Chinoiserie home decor.
Unlike common sets that feature duplicate images, this curated collection showcases a continuing historical storyboard on each coaster! The artwork details scenes inspired by traditional epic illustrations, featuring nomadic camps, yurts, traveling kitchens, and military escorts reminiscent of the classic saga \"Eighteen Songs of a Nomad Flute\" (The Story of Lady Wenji).
Features & Details:
- Complete Set: Includes the original hinged wooden display box and 4 matching coasters.
- Felt Backed: Each coaster features its original vibrant green felt backing to protect your coffee table and surfaces from scratches and heat rings.
- Condition: Great vintage condition. The printed artwork remains highly vibrant and the hinges work perfectly. The exterior of the wooden box shows a few light surface scratches \"here and there\" consistent with age and gentle use, adding to its authentic retro character.
- Provenance: Retains its original \"Made in Taiwan R.O.C.\" gold foil label and vintage department store inspection tag on the bottom of the box.
Perfect for vintage collectors, lovers of Asian folk art, or anyone looking to add a unique, functional conversation piece to their mid-century modern or eclectic home decor.
