Vintage Multi-Colored Mercury Glass Torpedo / Lantern Bead Christmas Garland – Made in Japan (Circa 1930s-1950s)

Description: Up for sale is a remarkably rare and highly collectible strand of authentic vintage/antique mercury glass bead Christmas garland. Unlike the common round sphere strands, this spectacular piece features elongated, capsule-shaped torpedo / barrel lantern beads, making it exceptionally hard to find. The garland is a vibrant, festive mix of classic mid-century colors including jewel-toned pink, chartreuse yellow, aqua blue, holiday red, gold, and silver.

A beautiful hallmark of its age and authenticity is the original small cardboard star anchor still intact at the end of the string—a definitive sign of early Japanese holiday imports.

Origin: Made in Japan

Condition: good vintage condition for age with authentic age-related patina. The hand-painted exterior colors remain vibrant, With a lot of silvering loss and light flea bites on some near the bead holes As with all genuine mercury glass from this era, which only adds to its authentic antique charm. There are 4 beads broken on this strand, and a cracked bead. see all pictures.
