Vintage Leather Elephant Coin Bank Hand-Tooled & Embossed India Trunk Up Snap Closure
Vintage handcrafted leather elephant coin bank, made in India using traditional folk art techniques. This bank was made in the classic Shantiniketan leather style, featuring rich vegetable-tanned red leather which has been hand-tooled and embossed. The sides feature stamped geometric batik borders and central mandala motif. Culturally, the \"trunk up\" design signifies good luck, protection and prosperity. The bank has a slot on the top to deposit coins and bills and the bottom has a snap closure opening. The \"Kane-M\" snap closure places its production between the 1970s to 1990s.
