You are buying the ledger you see in the photos.There's a sticker inside the front cover from "MAX FISHEL" advertising stationary/books with a "Deadwood Dak" address. There are some brief entries in an alphabetized section and most seem to relate to Deadwood, SD. These entries have been crossed over, (looks like pencil, but I haven't tried to erase them), and are still mostly legible. Some of the businesses/names I noticed were include Jacob Goldberg; James Frawley; Hickock, (not Hickok); Daniel McLaughlin; Star & Bullock; and Werthheimer. On a couple of these alphabetized pages there are entries dated from 1925 relating to a house rental I think. After the alphabetized section, there are 296 numbered pages. Unfortunately, the first 44 pages have been cut out, (ouch!). In addition, there aren't any annotations after page 80, (page 81/82 is torn out). There are accounting entries dated from 1893 that seem to center on a business in Hot Springs, SD., (maybe a boarding house or hotel?). Some of the names/businesses listed at the tops of these pages include: Bontee; Fawcet; Wm Allen; Fargo,(there's some entries on other pages related to a "Fargo Bros."); Carlsbad Spring Co., (there's a "Stewart" named on this page as well as "Dr. Steward"); Shawn(sp?) & Meyers Butchers; Stage Driver, (no other name given) and Keystone Land & Cattle Co. These entries seem to concern food and board. I count 13 pages in the first 80 of this section that have names at the top with accounting entries below, (remember the first 44 were cut out).This was part of a bunch of paper related items I purchased, (greeting cards mostly). Most of it belonged to a lady who had a business in the Hot Springs area starting in the mid 20th century. There wasn't anything else that remotely resembled this, (e.g.: correspondence, records, etc.)
