Vintage Western Germany Jeweled Wirework Green Glass Christmas Ornament
Beautiful and unusual oversized vintage glass Christmas ornament retaining its original-style “MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY” metal tag.
The ornament features brilliant reflective emerald-green glass in a large elongated teardrop/egg shape. The front is elaborately decorated with an ornate silver-tone filigree-style appliqué accented with deep red faceted rhinestones and clear stones. At the center is a dimensional floral/rosette embellishment featuring white accents and additional clear rhinestones.
Especially striking is the extensive decorative wirework surrounding the ornament. Fine zigzag/looped metal wire runs alongside the applied trim, complemented by gold braided cord and cream-and-metallic-gold wrapped fiber decoration extending vertically around the glass. A coordinating wrapped loop forms the hanger at the top.
The combination of reflective green glass, jeweled appliqué, wire decoration and elaborate wrapped trim gives this ornament an exceptionally ornate Mid-Century European appearance.

CONDITION
Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear. The glass shows surface scratches, marks and areas of finish wear consistent with age. The decorative metal wire and other applied elements show some oxidation, darkening and age-related wear. The wrapped fiber trim also shows age and wear.
