WINGS OF TEXACO RARE 1998 YELLOW COLLECTOR’S EDITION MYSTERY SHIP For Sale

What may be the rarest Wings of Texaco diecast airplane bank, the Collector’s Edition 1930 Travel Air Model R Mystery Ship was issued in 1998 as the first of several special-edition planes that would be offered in the series. The YELLOW-AND-RED Mystery Ship was shipped one per case with the No. 5 regular-edition RED-AND-WHITE plane. Other special-edition planes that followed were issued by the full case, and most are common now. This one was opened only so I could take photos. To preserve its untouched integrity, I didn’t remove the plane from its original Styrofoam package. In fact, I didn’t even touch the plane itself. I carefully opened the box just to be sure the plane and all four pieces of its original paperwork were there. They include the Certificate of Authenticity, the bank operating instructions, an envelope for the third-annual Texaco Collectors Sweepstakes and the yellow sheet identifying the item and that it was shipped one per case. (I’m including two other yellow identifying sheets that came with the case.) The tears in the protective tissue are from the factory. The original collector’s edition box – which, unlike the regular No. 5 Mystery Ship, was issued without any color graphics -- is in perfect condition.
