This sale is for an ORIGINAL vintage circa-1918 WWI photograph, from a large group of 1st Aero Squadron images I am listing tonight.
The I Corps Observation Group was a United States Army Air Service unit that fought on the Western Front during World War I as part of the Air Service, First United States Army. It was demobilized in France after the 1918 Armistice with Germany on 15 April 1919. The mission of the group was primarily to keep the friendly command informed of the general situation within the enemy lines by means of visual and photographic reconnaissances.
This is not a later copy or reprint, this is an ORIGINAL VINTAGE TYPE-1 WARTIME PHOTO.
Type 1 Photo: A 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, during the period.
Photo measures 8 3/4" x 6 1/2" and is mounted to s page titled "FRENCH SYSTEM - RICHECOURT. 7000 FEET". Various details are noted on the mount.
