uYouare offerding on an EXCEPTIONAL and NEW OLD STOCK example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Me109 Schnellstopphebel (ENGINE STOP LEVER), complete with its original Mounting Bracket! This original cockpit control formed part of the Me109 engine-control system and was installed on the left side of the pilot’s cockpit.
The Schnellstopphebel was the dedicated engine shutoff control used in the Me109. Located on the left side of the cockpit near the throttle, flap, and horizontal-stabilizer trim controls, the lever was pulled by the pilot when shutting down the engine after landing. Period operating instructions specifically identify the Schnellstopphebel as the control used to stop the engine, after which the lever was returned to its normal position. Unlike the normal throttle control, this was a dedicated engine-stop device and formed part of the distinctive mechanical control arrangement found in the Me109 cockpit. Original complete assemblies are particularly desirable today because the lever, operating knob, pivot mechanism, and mounting bracket were separate exposed components that were easily removed or lost from stripped aircraft and postwar cockpit assemblies.
Made of steel, aluminum, and bakelite, this original Schnellstopphebel and Mounting Bracket assembly are in EXCELLENT NEW OLD STOCK condition! The assembly was never installed or used and remains complete with its original lever, pivot mechanism, mounting bracket, and distinctive red operating knob. The lever retains much of its original wartime painted finish, with areas of normal flaking and finish loss from decades of storage. The mounting bracket and exposed steel components show some surface oxidation and light storage rust, however there is NO serious pitting, cracks, breaks or bends! The pivoting mechanism remains intact and operates correctly by hand. Everything present is 100% ORIGINAL wartime German manufacture and has never been restored or repainted. I have shown its location in the last images. An EXTREMELY RARE opportunity to acquire a complete unused Me109 Schnellstopphebel assembly, ideal for an advanced cockpit restoration, airframe project, museum display, or Luftwaffe aircraft collection!
