Up for sale is a rare antique original WWI French Air Force pilot wings insignia badge. The badge features a finely detailed flying eagle with outstretched wings, its head thrust forward and beak open as if calling. It has a pin back and a hook on the reverse for hanging an additional rank classification insignia or excellence award. Made of brass with solid rolled gold finish and marked on the back “Special.” It also has a maker’s mark , where you can read “double” over crossed axes and three hardly readable letters.
The badge is in very good original condition, with minor wear to the gold finish due to age. Originates from a private collection in Paris.
