WWI German Photographs (4) Air Corps (Luftstreitkrafte) Aerial Reconnaissance: $400.00
ORIGINAL WWI GERMAN AIR CORPS (LUFTSTREITKRÄFTE) RECONNAISSANCE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS - 4 PHOTO LOTAn exceptional, highly rare offering of four original 5x7 inch military aerial reconnaissance photographs from a German Imperial Air Corps (Luftstreitkräfte) soldier\'s personal World War I album. These photos feature crisp, official Flieger-Abteilung (Fl. A.) administrative margins detailing specific flights, altitudes, focal lengths, and target French villages during the critical campaign of June 1917.PAGE 1: LES ALLEUX VILLAGE & AIRFIELD RECONNAISSANCE - Top Photo (Les Alleux Region Overview): A vertical aerial mapping survey of the patchwork agricultural fields and road networks surrounding the French commune of Les Alleux. The official white ink border notations track technical data, including the airfield target designation: \"Flughafen: Passavant.\"
- Bottom Photo (Les Alleux Village Low-Altitude Oblique): A spectacular, highly detailed low-altitude oblique image labeled \"Probeaufnahme: 4\" (Test Shot 4) directly over the heart of Les Alleux. Individual French farmhouses, walled estates, orchards, and intersecting streets are visible with stunning clarity.
- Technical Inscriptions: Labeled \"Fl. A. 273\" (Flieger-Abteilung 273), dated \"12.6.17\" (June 12, 1917).
PAGE 2: LE CHESNE & LA CHEPPE AIRFIELD RECONNAISSANCE - Top Photo (Le Chesne Garrison Overview): A high-altitude vertical survey capturing the layout of Le Chesne. The official white ink annotation reads: \"Ortsunterkunft: Le Chesne - 4.6.12.\" [Note: The period printer/writer error reads \"12\" but coordinates with the June 1917 Fl. A. 273 deployment]. It captures a vital troop billeting and staging area behind the German lines.
- Bottom Photo (La Cheppe Village & Airfield Complex): A razor sharp vertical survey map targeting La Cheppe. This specific mission was flown to monitor active aviation assets, marked explicitly on the print as \"La Cheppe mit Flughafen\" (La Cheppe with Airfield). Trench lines, defensive field boundaries, and a distinct semi-circular layout are clearly integrated into the surrounding landscape.
- Technical Inscriptions: Flown by Flieger-Abteilung 273 (\"Fl. A. 273. 2181.\"), dated \"8.6.17\" (June 8, 1917), executed at an altitude of 4,800 meters (\"H. 4800\") with a 25cm focal length lens (\"Br. 25\").
CONDITION & SPECIFICATIONS - Size: Approximately 5 x 7 inches per album page.
