Uncommon WWII Italian Royal Army illustrated military postcard relating to the Albanian-Greek Front / Greco-Italian War.
The illustrated front prominently reads:
“FRONTE ALBANO GRECO”
and depicts an open book together with a large military dagger/bayonet, belt and military equipment.
The reverse is an official Italian Armed Forces postal card marked:
“CARTOLINA POSTALE PER LE FORZE ARMATE”
“ESENTE DA TASSA PER L’ITALIA E SUE COLONIE”
and at lower left:
“A CURA DELLO STATO MAGGIORE R. ESERCITO”
indicating issue under the Royal Italian Army General Staff.
The card is unused, with the sender, military unit and recipient fields remaining blank.
This type of Italian military postal stationery was used during WWII, including on the Greek-Albanian front during the 1940-41 Greco-Italian campaign.
