ITEM DESCRIPTION

This Weller Art Pottery Roba Periwinkle Blue Hanging Planter is in Very Good Vintage Condition. NOTE: There is natural age crazing throughout and a chip touchup on the rim (SEE picture with pen). Dating from 1936-1940, this beautiful hanging planter features the distinctive Roba design with a softly shaded Periwinkle Blue and cream glaze, raised floral decoration and a deeply ribbed body. A large applied pink flower with yellow center and surrounding green leaves decorates the front. The planter has a gracefully scalloped rim, three suspension points and its hanging chain. It measures approximately 5 1/4" tall, not including the chain.

ITEM CONDITION

Very Good Vintage Condition. NOTE: There is natural age crazing throughout and a chip touchup on the rim (SEE picture with pen). The pottery retains attractive Periwinkle Blue, cream, pink and green coloring with age-appropriate wear consistent with its age. Please review the photos for additional condition details.

PATTERN & DESIGN

Weller's Roba line is known for its softly shaded pastel glazes, textured and molded forms, and dimensional floral decoration. This hanging planter features a Periwinkle Blue glaze gradually shading into creamy tones across the deeply ribbed body. The front is decorated with a large applied pink flower surrounded by sculpted green leaves, creating the dimensional floral appearance characteristic of the Roba line.

The planter is further distinguished by its irregular scalloped rim, molded floral-form base and three raised suspension points supporting the hanging chain. The combination of pastel coloring, flowing molded form and applied floral decoration makes Roba a distinctive example of Weller's American art pottery production of the 1930s.

This measures 5 1/4" High x 5 3/8" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Hanging Planter.
