WW2 Named US Navy Submariner Dress Blues Jumper Uniform.
After thorough research via my network, I’m fairly certain this uniform belonged to MoMM1c James. A. Dixon. However, it’s worth noting that the MoMM rank is different than the one on the uniform since there would be an ‘MO’ between the propeller. It is also one rank below what Dixon retired as. That said, he is the only Sailor we have identified with that name, serving on a submarine long enough to earn a stripe. There is also a high possibility that this uniform was reissued to another Sailor after Dixon’s service.
Dixon’s service is as follows:
USS Seal from 7/15/42-6/18/43
USS SkipJack from 3/24/44-6/29/44
USD Sea Fox 2/20/45-end of war.
Each of these vessels have their own history and are worth looking into.
