- This poster makes me think of the Presidio and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco and Marin County, which featured coastal defense batteries and cannons during World War I. Sites like Battery Chamberlin at Baker Beach, which housed 6-inch guns in 1917, and Battery Boutelle in the Marin Headlands—where guns were later dismounted for WWI service—fit this imagery well.
