Carefully cleaned by hand with no attemptmade to destroy the history of the tool by removing every dent and ding it has accumulated over it\'s lifetime.
The NEW handle ismade from Shagbark Hickory, and has been given a few coats of B.L.O.
The blade is marked \"W. BUTCHER CAST STEEL\" on the front, and an arrow, a Maltese Cross and the letter, \"B\" in a circle on the back.
To show the condition of the steel, SOME sharpening has been done...it is NOT complete.
The edges / width have been cleaned up.The bevel is approximately 20 degrees.
The \"sweep\" of the cutting edge is approximately 1/2\" diameter.The \"overall width\" is approximately 9/16\", and is measured as shown in the last photo.
The steel is approximately 4-1/4\" long.
The overall length is approximately 9-1/4\".
Pretty nice old gouge!
