This fantasticcard was issued by the W.Duke Sons and Co. as an insert premium in their brandsof Honest Long Cut Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1890. This card is from a fairly scarce series of 50 cards entitled , “HOLIDAYS” Listed as series N80 in Burdick’s AmericanCard Catalogue. The front of the cardfeatures a beautiful woman set against a background that is supposed to berepresentative of a scene from the national holiday of the featured country.The back of the card gives a descriptionof the holiday well as advertising forDuke’s Cigarettes. This card features SWITZERLAND and SCHUETZENFEST (featuring a young lady with an antique rufle over her shoulder . The stunning Lithography for the card was done byHarris and Co of Philadelphia.. TheCards measures 2 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inchesapproximately. The card does have some areas of discoloration to the back, but is free from creases and displays nicely .
