Nice article overall. Has some browning, age toning, and dinged corners, but overall very nice for a 100-year-old magazine article.
Artist's bio:
Artist George Catlin traveled the American west five times during the 1830s, visiting many Native tribes as they teetered on the edge of extinction. He started in St. Louis, traveling up the Mississippi River with Governor William Clark of Lewis & Clark fame.
Over time, Catlin painted over 500 portraits of Native Americans, including their chiefs, warriors, women folk, and their dances and ceremonies.
The earliest versions of his Manners, Customs, and Condition of the North American Indians contained line drawings, often referred to as cartoons. A few years later, twenty-five color plates were published in his North American Indian Portfolio. And then, in 1876, 1903, and 1913, more affordable versions of his book appeared with color illustrations.
The prints I’m offering are from the 1903 edition. They feature bright, vibrant colors and a large border suitable for framing.
