Vintagefold-out 1938 Richfield map of Metropolitan New York,printed more than 85 years ago.

• The map opens to 27" x 20" and hasgreat detail on old street and highway alignments, with cartography by Rand McNally.
• The coverage area includes part of northeastern New Jersey, between Wanaque Reservoir and Perth Amboy, east to Hempstead in Nassau County, New York.
• There's a map of Long Island on the reverse side, locating the site of the 1939 New York World's Fair and tracing the route of the old Long Island Motor Parkway — part of the course for the 1908 to 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races. When this map was printed it was a private toll road that ran from Queens to Lake Ronkonkoma.



• The map was distributed by the Phillips Oil Company of Wallington, NewJersey in 1938 and is dated by the code in the lower margin: T.3741.
• The Phillips Oil Company was a New York City area petroleum jobber anddistributor of Richfield gasoline and Richlube motor oil. It had noaffiliation with the Phillips Petroleum Company of Oil was located at the intersection of Scott Avenue and LesterStreet in Wallington when this map was printed. Its previous addresswas 175 River Road in the Delawanna neighborhood of Clifton.
