These can be used as legal license plates under the California rules for Year Of Manufacture (YOM) plates.These can be used for a 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, or 1955 vehicle. One already has the metal corner tag for 1955.When checked on Sept 18, 2018, these plates were \"Clear\", meaning that this plate numberis not being used by anyone else.
They can be registered at the California DMV for YOM use.
The DMV clerk was not clear about what type vehicle this can be used for, as in, a car, a truck, or a commercial vehicle.
The buyer should verify that this number can be used for the planned YOM usage.The pictures show reflected light in sections of the plates so you can see the light texture and vintage patina on the background surface.
Condition:The overall condition is very nice.
The metal is flat and straight without any bends or creases.
The yellow surface of the numbers is bright, smooth and shiny.
The dark background is mostly smooth and shiny but there are areas that are less so.
One plate (the \"55\") has a smoother background with less surface noise than the other.
The other plate (the \"51\") has a bit of surface texture that is visible with the right light reflection.
