VERY DARK GREEN&BLUE GEM TOURMALINE . I WILL PROBABLY ADD PICTURES OF THE SLICE THAT CAME OFF OF IT TOMORROW SO PLEASE CHECK BACK.
Approximate size of crystal specimen:3 " LONG X 3/4"WIDE X3/4"DEEPor in metric:7.8 X 1.9 X1.8 CM. The metric dimensions are more precise. This weighs 56 grams or 1.95 ounces
CLOSED-CTourmaline. This crystal is from the W. F. Ingram collection which was assembled , in part,84years ago. Most items in the collection with a date were dated 1940. I estimate that the collection was built from 1940 through 1960.
BE SURE TO SEE VIDEO - THIS CRYSTAL is 3/4 GREEN COLOR with one end, about a quarter of it, is DARK BLUE. Thiscrystal is gemmy facet grade but it is very dark and should be heat-treated to lighten the color. If you hold your cellphone under it with the light on, you can EASILY see the light coming through - but WOW! is it a beautiful color. In addition to being very dark it is closed-C, which means light can't easily pass lengthwise through the crystal. That means if you cut slices like salami along the length the way most people do that light wouldn't really pass through the crystal. If you cut slices longwise - which absolutely no one usually does - then light would pass through those slices.If you're unfamiliar with "closed-C" then you should read up about it before buying this.Since this is closed-C and also needs to be heat treated to lighten the color I am going to price this one very cheaply. I also have listed other tourmaline crystals in a separate listing.
This was photographed outdoors in bright sunlight and at times it was photographed indoors.
