I\'vetried to figure out why the Anasazi would make such a piece...perhaps it was a corndryer?? setting fresh cobs on this and perhaps it wicked moisture from the kernals fasterso they could grind them into cornmeal and store?? No one seems to know, it\'s a mystery!

The CLIFF DWELLERS (1200 AD) primary food source was beans, corn & squash which theygrew on the mesa tops. The corn (maize) was not as we know it today...it was much smaller andwas actually a type of weedy plant. IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY YOU CAN STILL SEE SOME OFTHE DRIED KERNALS in the cobs
I believe it was perhaps used in the BASKETMAKER PERIOD..it was a Corn Based Ariculture time
