MOST PROBABLY THE FIRST MODEL EVER MADE WITH VISIBLE EXCIETER.
This machine was produced by \"E.G.Lochmann & Co., Leipzig\" around 1899-1902 as \"Volta\". In the year 1903 Lochmann\'s company went bankrupt and was re-founded as „Jentzsch & Meerz\". They continued to build Volta-shockers (Volta 2 - 1904, Volta 3 - 1927).This floor standing wooden shocker is the earliest one i have seen or found. This particular coin operated electric shock machine has been made even before that all Mills Novelty models i saw (inspired by Everitt and William Oliver patents), has a crank with a visible exciter and its original wooden stand. Later models with visible exciter made during beginning of XX century in USA, as theWardell Electric Machine Co.(with metal cases, chromed parts or both features), or the first British model with visible exciter made by the New Polyphon Supply Company´s in 1902, have been inspired by this earliest German model, completely made in wood and brass in 1899, with visible exciter and no chromed parts. Which this why may be the FIRST MODEL EVER MADE WITH VISIBLE EXCIETER.A really bizarre and slightly intimidating machine by today\'s standards, but in our opinion a superb example of Victorian experimental insanity. The first electric shock devices date to the mid-18thcentury, when electrical therapy was commonly administered as a treatment for nervous disorders. A really exceptional museum piece for demanding collectors.
This apparatus is in original antique condition and incredibly complete, with even original stand, with signals of use consistent with age. Only back lock is missing (see last picture - very easy to resolve). It has original frontal lock with original key. All mechanical parts and coils are in working condition. Coils has been tested and are working, you only need to connect cables in the right position and use a coin to make it works. Empty battery is not included (for security reasons battery can not be shipped).
