Hans Achtziger (* 1918 † 2003) was a member of the German \"Werkbund\" und one of the most influential porcelain modellers in the 20th century. He was the director of the arts department at Hutschenreuther AG from 1961-1964, later on he headed the form studio.
He created dinner services and a large number of exceptional animal sculptures for the brand Hutschenreuther which was acquired by Rosenthal in 2000.

• geboren am 8.3.1918 in Selb (Bayern) - gestorben um 2003 in München
• Deutscher Bildhauer und Porzellanmodelleur. Mitglied des Deutschen Werkbundes und einer der bedeutensten Porzellanmodelleure des 20. Jahrhunderts. 1934-37 Modelleurlehrling in der Porzellanfabrik Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG, Selb. 1937-39 Studium an der Staatlichen Fachschule für Porzellan-Industrie, Selb (heute: Johann-Friedrich-Böttger-Institut) unter Prof. Fritz Klee. 1946-48 Schüler von Prof. Hans Panzer in der Bildhauerklasse der Meisterschule für Bau- und Kunsthandwerker, München. Ab 1948 erneut Tätigkeit in der Porzellanfabrik Lorenz Hutschenreuther, ab 1961 deren Leiter der Kunstabteilung, ab 1965 zusätzlich Leiter des zentralen Ateliers für Formengestaltung, 1970-81 Direktor derselben. Für die in 2000 durch Rosenthal erworbene Marke Hutschenreuther schuf er 35 Service-Formen und etwa 150 herausragende Tierplastiken, u.a. \"Übermut (2 Apfelschimmel)\", \"Windhundgruppe (Whippet)\", \"Abstreichende Schwäne\" und \"Auffliegender Reiher\". Studienreisen nach Frankreich, Italien, Schweden, Finnland, Dänemark , England, Holland, Belgien, Irland, Portugal und Persien. 1959 Goldmedaille für Astral-Porzellan der California State Fair, Sacramento / USA. 1969 Auszeichnung \"Gulden Form\", Utrecht / Niederlande. 1977 Verdienstmedaille der Stadt Selb. 1984 Kulturpreis der oberfränkischen Wirtschaft der Industrie- und Handelskammer für Oberfranken Bayreuth. 1986 Verdienstkreuz am Bande des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Zahlreiche Arbeiten von ihm befinden sich im öffentlichen Raum und Besitz. Literatur: Vollmer, Band I (A-D).
