I have been traveling the Himalayan areas like Dharamshala for the last few years, and have brought back only a few treasures to pass on. Each of the items I have are either antique or extremely high quality. I have done my best to find the best. Each mala has been blessed and used at the Dalai Lama temple in McLeod Ganj. This bead is one in a hundred thousand if not rarer. I saw thousands of repro Luk Mik beads in the market. 99% of them were brown.
This is a legit ancient bead, from bead dealer Shafi in Chiang Mai Thailand.
This was likely in a burial cremation fire over a thousand years ago, and sometime in the recent past it was unearthed and stabilized with some black epoxy like substance.
It is a decorated Dzi bead with a wide eye around the circumference.
But what really caught my eye is the delicate and beautiful shade of turquoise green that the bead turned likely due to being in the fire and consequently being buried for many years.
This would be a stunning centerpiece for a bead necklace, or simply wear it on cord with a couple of small accent beads like the Tibetan do.
