Antique 1860s OLRY & Co. Civil War Liquor Flask Ornate Pewter Overlay W/Cup 4.5”.

Antique OLRY & Co. Philadelphia Flask circa 1860s. The top half is a beautiful pewter Ivy overlay with an ornate twist top. The bottom is a removable silver-plated pewter cup that slides off for travel.

The markings on the bottom of the glass read “MV Orly” for the M V OLRY Glass Company, operated out of Philadelphia. The Patent for this is dated 1860 and is considered an 1860 Civil War Liquor Flask. This type of ornate Whiskey Flask is Rare/Scarce since they were not manufactured in large numbers.

CONDITION

Unfortunately the lid got stuck and had to be pried off, resulting in the lid separating into a few pieces, with part of it stuck inside the lid so the twist off part no longer functions normally. The pewter is quite brittle. The glass bottle itself has some chips and cracks and shows markings and white film underneath the overlay. Tarnish on the metal.
