Discovered at an antique market in Brussels, this antique Belgian crucifix is striking in its simplicity. The stark white bisque Corpus Christi is mounted on an embossed decorated white bisque plinth. The dark wood of the cross contrasts beautifully with the white bisque porcelain making the Corpus and the nails through its hands, feet and the sign above His head stand out with sharpness.
A truly beautiful and moving piece. Please see my detailed photos for condition which is very good considering the age which I believe is circa 1899.
