I found this years and years ago and never did know what it was but after some deep discussions with Mr. Google I do believe that this is a very primitive assay mold that probably dates back to the mid 1800\'s, I can not verify this but the construction of the mold is very primitive from one end to the other. If any of you fellow members can help me out I would really appreciate it.
4 cavity mold, each cone is ~ 1 1/2\" deep and 1 7/8\" in circumference at the top. Overall length including handle (which has a split - check picture) is ~ 16\", 3\" wide and 4\" tall. It weighs around 3 pounds. There is what looks like a makers mark just where the handle attaches to the \"pan\" but this might just as well be a forging mark. (take a look at the picture)
The Peace Dollar is only for contrast and IS NOT included in this sale.
I want every buyer that I partner with to be completely satisfied with their purchase. If you have questions or need more pictures just let me know and I will get back to you immediately.
