Railroad pick axes get their name from their use in building the United States railways, or railroads as they were called.
This pick axe is very strong and sturdy yet. Age is unknown. The stamped weight is hard to read but the axe head weighs 4.4 lbs without the handle. It is stamped \"WARNING WEAR SAFETY G?????. USA\" and I am assuming the weight. It is very hard to read.
The handle is 36\" long with the width of the casting measuring 19 1/2\".
