☆ Standard restoration work:
- Brown vulcanite oxidation removed (if vulcanite)
- Polished & carnauba waxed
- Tenon / Mortise fits corrected and beeswaxed
- Airways / funnel reamed and cleaned
- Stem slot funnel (v-cut) improved or added (for optimal smoke dispersion)
- Significant teeth marks / impressions removed / rebuilt
- Bowl pits may be filled with food grade gypsum (plaster of paris) the kind used with corn cob pipes (gypsum can be easily removed and identified due to its bright white color in the case a buyer wants to inspect the depth of a pit.
Additional restoration work:
- New Vulcanite Mortise and Stem installed
Like most meer smokers, I prefer a vulcanite or even briar mortise over a typical delrin screw in style mortise. The vulcanite mortise cut out of a Japanese rod has been fixed in place with a standard BSI epoxy.
