Rare and unique, Antique circa 1815 Porcelain lidded and double handled potpourri jar by Worcester - Grainger.
This piece features floral hand painted sprays in gilded medallions, deep cobalt blue glaze, eagle finial and swan legs. The rims are adorned with gilded accents.
It is made of soft paste porcelain.
Measures: 6.5”L handle to handle. by 5”H
Condition is AS IS due to repairs on the lid and a few other flaws. The lid has an old staple repair and a chip; the eagle finial was re-attached; one of the swan legs is missing a head. Other than that, typical wear and use related marks due to use and age, firing imperfections, minor wear and scabs on feet and handles but not noticeable. Despite the above imperfections, this potpourri jar looks beautiful and any damage is not surprising considering the age. It’s a rare and lovely piece, a wonderful example of early English porcelain and the epoch.
Unmarked but I am certain this is Grainger period Worcester piece.
