ANTIQUE STREET LIGHT Refurbished green porcelain radial wave industrial light.
Here's a real beauty, a survivor from the 1920-30’s when Street lights has some classy looks This original, 90-plus-year-old fixture has a 20"-diameter green/white radial-wave porcelain shade, a massive glazed-ceramic insulator body in its middle, and is topped with a cast-iron cap held to the insulator with four screws. This fixture's original socket was replaced with a new one for safety reasons.
We outfitted the fixture with completely new electrical components including a heavy-duty, UL-approved ceramic socket and all-new wiring. Originally, power was supplied to the fixture via two heavy wires that connected to the inside copper terminals on either side of the ceramic insulator body. That arrangement was acceptable back in the 1920s when the fixture hung high in the air and was only serviced by professionals, but would not be safety-compliant in today's world. To give the fixture the look of its old wiring arrangement, while meeting today's safety standards, we fed two heavy insulated wires from the outlet on the downpipe to the exposed contact terminals -- these wires are completely inert, with no power to them--just there "for show." The socket now gets its power from a new, completely internal, insulated cord. Besides the new wiring and socket, we have new connector pipe, junction box and down rod with ceiling mounting kit. So your light has everything you need to hang you light once you get it. The ceiling mounting kit is the same as a ceiling fan mounting (swivel-type ceiling hanger so you or your electrician can easily hang it even on a vaulted ceiling ). We have added a 24” down rod, but you can easily change this out to a shorter or longer one easily. I have added 5’ of electric connection cord, so you have plenty of wire to make it longer. We will also send you the vintage light bulb you see in pics.
The new socket holds any typical household bulb with a medium (E26) base.
This fixture has been thoroughly tested; rest assured it will work without fail for a great many more years. To absolutely ensure safe delivery, this fixture will be shipped in a large, oversized box with plenty of padding. Quoted shipping is to the lower 48 states.
