Art Deco Trio of Teacup & Saucer & Luncheon Plate Tirschenreuth of Germany c1940:
$25.00

Here is a gorgeous trio of porcelain teacup and saucer and luncheon plate, made by Tirschenreuth of Bavaria Germany. The porcelain color is an off white, maybe ivory or cream colored, with a design of dark pink almost red trapezoids with a green center and a sunburst design of gold and with lines of gold leaves between the trapezoids. This design is around the edges of the plates and on the inside of the cup. The cup has a wide mouth and has an elegant gold painted foot. More than once, when I picked up the cup, I was surprised at how light it is and how fine and thin the porcelain is, the cup by itself weighs just over 3 ounces!

This backstamp is called the Zehendner mark and was used starting around 1940 but could not find out for how long it was used, so this set is probably around 70 to 84 years old.

The set is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is some rub wear to the gold, like on the edges of the plates and there a few places on the plates where the gold trim is pretty much gone, so look at the pictures for that. There doesn’t seem to be much wear to he design itself on the plates or inside the cup. There is a scratch or mark in the shiny gold of the cups foot. I see very few marks on the glaze of the plates when looking at an angle to the light.

The footed teacup holds 3/4 cup to the top and stands 2 & 1/2 inches tall and is 4 & 1/8 inches in diameter. The saucer is 6 inches in diameter and the plate is about 7 & 5/8 inches across, a perfect size for a sandwich, salad or some other treat to go with your tea or coffee! The cup weighs about 3 ounces and the whole set weighs about 1 pound 1 ounce.

Please zoom in on the pictures for a closer look and see the 360 degree video.

I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and sometimes on Saturdays if I can get it packed and to the post office before they close at noon.

Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking!
