This rare and fine effigy tube pipe which I surmise was made in the lower Appalachian area of the Carolinas.
The effigy is of a bird type unknown to me.
The one end is drilled for use as a pipe, Bowl is in the middle of the birds back.
Made out of a fine Serpentine with an several shades of green. The colors in the pictures are true.
Serpentine was a common material for ceremonial items from
Southern Appalachian area. Traded into the Midwest.
6 1/4\" long, 4 3/4\" tall, 1 \" wide.
The pictures show the authenticity of this piece.
Museum Quality. Serious offers considered.
