One Figurine Music Box (aka Sculpture, Figure, Statuette, Statue, Model)

Wood Figurine Box by Wendt & Kuhn (Though at the time it was made this was not their name. They were able to regain their name after reunification.)

Made of Wood and Metal. Brass Key.

The music box player is THORENS MADE IN SWITZERLAND MF 28.166

The Wood Case Box is actually an Amplifier of the Music Box.

CONDITION: Paint Chipped away on Base. Please see video of the actual music box portion playing. The music box is the original music box from inside this figurine. It was reassembled after inspection and video recording. The wood box has aging and use wear & tear chip marks.. According to the owner it had maintenance done in 1975 by a professional music box repairman & watch jeweler. He was the one that chipped the paint next to the screw that holds the music box against the wood. When doing maintenance on it, remember that it is hard to put back together at that point.

The "ON" switch has to be carefully pulled and held for a note or two and then it automatically shuts off. Then pulled again to be played again. It doesn't play out a whole winding. These easily get over-wound. In later models of this same design figurine they moved the ON switch to a different location. Please watch the video to see the ON switch in action!.

Overall Measures approximately 4½ by 7½+ by 3 3/8 inches.

Blau Wandspieldose - Designed by Grete Wendt and came out in 1959/60 in very limited amounts.

West Germany, Western Germany was also known as the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland, BRD, FRD) until the 1990 reunification with East German, Eastern Germany. After the end of World War II, Germany was divided into 4 sectors divided among France, Soviet Union, Great Britain, and the United States of America. They also created a 5th sector called Berlin which was also then divided 4 ways. Creating 8 sectors, each country had 2 sectors. Great Britain and USA coorniated their 4 sectors and this combined 2 sectors became known as Bizonia. In 1949, France agreed to join. In that year that Federal Republic of Germany was formed. The USSR sector did not agree to join. Instead they became Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic, GRD, DDR,or East Germany).

There are many lyrics to the melody. The first was by Brahms in 1868, then he did another release with his adaptation of an 1849 poem.
