The bronze beauty boasts her dexterity by kicking her leg high and
turning her left hand to touch the sole of her shoe in a seductive
dance move. The method of casting, allows for the precious metal to
mold to the finest level of the artist's skill. The details are so
exquisite that the eyes are fooled thinking the hardness of the
material is actually a flowing silk dress that hangs loosely and
transparent off her shapely form. She was molded using the age-old
technique of lost-wax casting and finished with a brown patina stain
guaranteeing perpetuation. She stands upon a black marble base with
the artist Bruno Zach's signature.
Bruno Zach was born in the town of Schitomir, Ukraine on the May 6,
1891 and died on February 20 1945 in Vienna. He studied at the Vienna
Academy under Hans Bitterlich and Josef Mullner. The subjects of
Zach's bronze works included western, orientalist, sporting and
animalier styles. However he is best known for his Art Deco subjects
of women depicted with a strident sensuality.
