A beautiful antique French fan, dating as early as c.1770 (see fan reference among photos, The Fan Museum, Greenwich, UK illustration, 1790). The guards and sticks are slender and elegant mother of pearl inlaid with silver and gold pique. The leaf is silk satin, hand painted and embroidered with sparkles - sequins of various shapes. The back leaf is also hand painted and is a light muslin. Lots of photos show it well, and to evaluate condition. A display fan, not for use.
Very good to excellent, age and type considered. I\'ve had my professional fan restorer work do a little on this one and it\'s just quite incredibly fine. No broken guards or sticks, a bit of age to the fabrics, but as you can see, museum quality.

Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
