They’re finally here! The first new tiki mugs produced by the famed Frankoma Pottery Company in 50 years.
This new mug, named "Frank" was sculpted by Wendy Cevola, the popular and respected ceramic tiki artist who has more than a decade of experience. She worked closely with the Frankoma company to bring Frank to life.
Frank is based on a salt and pepper set that Frankoma produced many years ago called War God. While Wendy sculpted the mug, it was actually produced in Tulsa, Ok by the Frankoma company.
There are 8 original colors withe 25 mugs produced of each color. All 8 colors SOLD OUT the first day.
This mug color is White and is number 6 of 25.
Growing up in Oklahoma I’ve seen my share of Frankoma pieces from the plates, mugs and salt and pepper shakers I used as a boy to the various decorative pieces my family has owned over the years. I’ve heard about the tiki pieces Frankoma made for a local bar that’s long since closed. It’s exciting to have this company back in the tiki game.
He stands 9.5" tall, has the Frankoma name on the front base with Wendy's name and date of release on the rear base.
I've tried to take many pics so you know exactly what the condition is. While there will always be variations from piece to piece this fine specimen appears to have a couple of minor imperfections. First s small pinhole sized spot in the glaze on his left knee and a couple of minor spots where the glaze is thinner near his bum. All of these are from the glazing process and came like this from the factory. See pics. Overall a very nice piece that you have to look at closely to see these issues that are part of the creation process. This bad boy has literally been wrapped in protective paper since leaving his home and only unwrapped for this photo shoot so this is how he was created.
