HUGE Vintage Wall ROSARY Cross Crucifix Pewter Ware Signed Hand Finished Wood Made in Italy

*** I mean no disrespect by having my mannequin wear the Rosary, although I think it looks pretty cool. My intent was to show you how truly large this amazing rosary is as I didn’t have a proper place to display it that would help you gauge the size.

I recently picked this up with many other items from an estate. I am not a rosary expert at all. I joined a Facebook group of Rosary lovers and collectors with 72K members and asked them for help in determining the age of the rosary and asked them if they would share any other info or insight as to the maker as I couldn’t find anything and I searched high and low on the internet.
So, please do your own due diligence on this piece if the origin, age and history matter to you. Of all of the information I received, this one member gave the most detailed response. I am not certain he is correct, but since I really have no idea, his description, explanation seemed to me worth sharing.The member wrote:

“ for a manufacturer who made so many sacramentals of pewter, I haven’t been able to find any information on A.L. Pewter, except that it was a softer pewter (88% Tin) which took fine detail well and was especially suited for hand finishing.

I have seen some A.L. Products with the Old English Style font gold label that appear to be from the late 60s - 70s. Later, the company (which I can’t identify with certainty) did move to a more modern linear font on their labels - perhaps mid 1980s. Stylistically, I believe that the rosary probably dates to the mid to late 70s or slightly before (mainly based on the style of the Corpus and the label) but that is subject to correction.

They produced a number of popular, smaller souvenirs that were popular in Rome, and larger religious articles such as statues, wall plaques, and crucifixes which were available for retail sale in the States. For something that used to be ubiquitous, I haven’t seen any new production by the company in the past several years."

This would be a wonderful gift for a rosary lover or collector or a fantastic addition to your ever growing collection.

Please look at all of the images to form your own opinion as to the condition of the item. My personal opinion may differ from yours. To me, it is in excellent vintage condition, meaning gently worn and well taken care of - wear consistent with age.

Condition:Vintage or preowned jewelry typically shows wear constant with its age.That is why we love it so much.The images are a major part of the description so please zoom in and look closely so there will be no surprises and you know exactly what I am selling and you will be receiving.

** Most of the time, I try not to disturb any vintage/preowned jewelry by cleaning and/or polishing it in order to keep it in its original patina leaving it to your discretion. I do not want to take a chance ruining something. Depending on your own taste, you can either clean or polish it or keep it in its original state.

My jewelry comes from estates, individual consignors, individual or bulk purchases, etc. In most cases, I do not know the history of the jewelry nor where it has traveled or been stored. Most importantly, I have no idea if it has been around pets, smoke, air fresheners or any sort of allergen or if it smells. (I do not smell jewelry)
