I have for sale, this super nice Handel base and either a Handel or a Unique Art Glass And Metal Company Apple Blossom designed shade. A very nice arts and crafts period style lamp. Both base and shade period 1900-1920. This lamp is in very good overall condition and needs no excuses. The lamp base has recently been rewired with proper period style cloth cord and old style plug and has zero damage to report. Very nice patina throughout and in fine working order. The Handel base is also signed on the bottom, please see photo. This not a common Handel lamp base due to its design and embossment around the the border of the base. The base retains it original three socket Hubbell cluster along with its original Hubbell sockets and acorn pulls. As for the Apple Blossom shade, not common by any stretch whatsoever and i dare say you could at least call it semi rare, if not rare by either maker and with great coloration and vibrant glass throughout. Please notice photo number four and the “branch” work at the top of the shade. Extremely cool.

The lamp measuring 24 inches tall with the shade being 17 inches wide. The shade in excellent original condition although there might a stray tight hairline here or there as would be expected for a 100 plus year old shade and the countless 100’s of pieces of glass. None in bad shape and plenty tight and right and will be around for a hundred year no doubt. As to be expected for a shade of this vintage and doesn’t detract at all from the overall appearance whatsoever. The leading all tight and right throughout, and no loose glass pieces or missing segments of glass. Shade unsigned but 100% certainty in the form and design of Handel or Unique Art Glass And Metal. I’ve been told the two makers collaborated on different shade designs and partnered on production thereof. I have owned enough of the two makers throughout the years to wholehearted believe that info to be true. Please note the shade ring exactly fits the Handel shade rest at the top of the base.

buyers please remember that I am selling antiques and that there should be a degree of expectation on your part in knowing that there will be normal aging and minor imperfections towards an item that is 75 to 100 years old. Chances are if there aren't any, it's a newer item and you shouldn't want it anyways. In other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. I really don't want to do a refund because the finial ( typically a 10.00 piece ) isn't perfect on a 2,000.00 lamp. I always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what I deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. It seems the more experienced an antique dealer or buyer is, the more understanding of condition they are.
